Asphyxiants

Asphyxiants

Asphyxiants are hazardous gases or vapours that can cause serious harm by preventing the body from getting the oxygen it needs. Simple asphyxiants lower oxygen levels in the air while chemical asphyxiants interfere with how the body transports or uses oxygen. Both types can quickly lead to unconsciousness or even death if exposure occurs. Knowing the risks and following safety guidelines is essential when working around these substances.
