Fatigue Risk Management

Fatigued Workers Are Impaired Workers

They are forgetful, more confrontational, have trouble with complex decision making, are slower to react, use flawed logic and demonstrate poor judgment. Their physical, mental and emotional health suffers. Errors are more frequent, injuries rise and overall work performance suffers.

The consequences are operational, societal, and personal.

When fatigue is built into work design such as in shift work operations, then it’s a hidden system issue, not a behavioral issue.

This requires a fundamental change in the way we currently plan work activities, evaluate errors, record incidents, perform investigations, conduct audits and collect worker input.

From policy to risk assessment, training to schedule design, our human factors experts understand that fatigue will never be eradicated from the worksite. It must be managed.

Do you know where your fatigue-related risks are?
